Classic Bike History

Custom Indian Bicycle Build

We built this custom Indian bicycle a few years ago from pictures of early Indian motorcycles. We used a Schwinn Tornado Frame, refitted a tank from an AMF. The head badge and light are reproductions; we modified the light itself to fit onto a bicycle fender. We created the fender skirts and riveted them onto the front fender. Steve drew the Indian head dress logo for the tank after reviewing a few Indian Motorcycle books provided by our customer. The bike features a few modern features like new aluminum drop side rims painted and pinstriped. We also installed a Shimano Nexus 3 speed hub to the bike. Electra leather seat and grips helped to finish the complete look. Last season we installed new Fat Frank tires, which we really think made the bike pop.
