1988 Schwinn Paramount 50th Anniversary

1988 marked the 50th anniversary for the iconic Schwinn Paramount. To commemorate the fame, both Olympic & world-wide racing heritage associated with its race model, Schwinn created the 50th anniversary Paramount. Only 600 of these models were handmade with Columbus SLX tubing and painted black with very fine gold flakes mixed in. They were released only as a frame set & came with a 24 karat gold plated fork, and a Paramount branded Strong light headset.

The bike pictured below belongs to Steve the owner of Eddy’s Cycle City in Bayonne, NJ. With only 600 available Steve was lucky to get his hands on one. Originally the bike was built with a Shimano Dura-Ace groupset and down tube shifters. Steve later upgraded the bike to Campagnolo Record after they introduced their Ergopower shifters in 1992 to compete Shimano’s STI shifters which were released two years earlier. The wheels are Campagnolo Tubular Omega rims laced with Italian made aero spokes to Campagnolo Record Hubs
